1-Pentadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (15:0 LysoPC) is generated through hydrolysis of the sn-2 acyl chain of PC by phospholipase A2. It is a major component of oxidized low-density lipoprotein and is believed to have an important role in inflammatory diseases and atherosclerosis. LysoPC is the substrate for Autotaxin/LysoPLD generating lysophosphatidic acid which has an important role in cell motility.
