Inositol phosphates are important signaling molecules involved in numerous cellular functions. Inositol 1,3,5-trisphosphate (Ins(1,3,5)P3) is not an intermediate in the inositol phosphate pathway but corresponds to the PtdIns(3,5)P2 headgroup.
