Islet-specific glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit-related protein (IGRP) is an autoantigen in mouse models of type 1 diabetes and is a potential autoantigen in humans. IGRP (206-214) represents a fragment of the catalytic subunit of IGRP that primes and is recognized by islet-associated CD8+ T cells in type 1 diabetes.
