It is used as a dietary supplement to help lower LDL cholesterol and manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) due to its anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-blocking effects. Use of cholesterol analogs can influence lipid nanoparticle (LNP) morphology, internal structure, and transfection efficiency, and endosomal escape. These analogs can result in substantial increases in gene delivery via LNPs.
