Urocortin is closely related to corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) and is widely expressed throughout the nervous system of mammals. Urocortin interacts with the CRF1 and CRF2 receptors and is important in stress-responses and appetite. Urotropin will cause an increase in heart rate and coronary blood flow through binding to CRF2 receptor and can prevent cardiac tissue damage from ischemic injury.
