Gastrin II is identical to Gastrin I, aka Little Gastrin or gastrin-17, except for the presence of a sulfate group on the tyrosine residue. Gastrins are peptide hormones involved in gastrointestinal processes such as the stimulation of gastric release. Sulfation of gastrin peptides has been shown to increase their affinity for gastrin and CCK receptors.
