1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE) is a derivative of phosphatidylethanolamine with (16:0) palmitoyl acyl chains. Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is formed primarily in the reaction of CDP-ethanolamine and diacylglycerol. PE is one of the major components of cell membranes in bacteria and in nervous system.
