DRONC is a caspase found in Drosophila which is likely to be involved in programmed cell death during insect metamorphosis.  The substrate specificity of DRONC is similar to mammalian caspase-2.

Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin (AFC) which excites at 395-400 nm and emits at 495-505 nm.
